All the prices mentioned are FOB Eastern/Central/Western Borrowed Earth distributors (depending on city closest to you and where the product is being shipped from. Inbound freight to your job site/warehouse is not included and will be additional. Due to the artisanal nature of the product and as it is carved in natural stone, Borrowed Earth does not assume liability of the product once it leaves the workshop/warehouse.

The majority of products from our series are produced to order. Whilst this means a highly personalized product, it also requires additional time for production, quality control and bespoke packing.

Borrowed Earth celebrates our inviolable connection to nature and attempts to recreate the innate joy of cohabiting amidst it.Stone is a natural material and natural variation, cracks, and rust marks are an inherent characteristic of the material. Color/tonal variation is an inherent part of the material and is celebrated by us. In fact, the Borrowed Earth Initiative makes a concentrated attempt to use remnants, and bring the natural tonality into your homes.

 

MATERIAL & INSTALLATION

All Borrowed Earth products are fabricated from natural stone. Natural stone is inherently variable in color, veining, texture, porosity, and density, and may exhibit fissures, inclusions, surface movement, or tonal variation. These characteristics are intrinsic to the material and are not considered defects.

Borrowed Earthdoes not provide installation servicesand assumesno responsibility or liability for installation methods, substrate preparation, structural support, waterproofing, sealing, fastening systems, or site conditions. All installation must be carried out by qualified professionals in accordance with industry standards and project-specific requirements.

Material selection, application suitability, and placement—including but not limited to wet areas, exterior conditions, vertical or overhead installations, water features, or high-traffic zones—are thesole responsibility of the client, architect, designer, contractor, or installer.

Borrowed Earth shall not be held liable for failures resulting fromimproper material selection, misuse, incorrect application, or non-compliant installation.

 

NATURAL AGING & PERFORMANCE

As a natural material, stone willage, patinate, and weather over timebased on exposure to moisture, UV, temperature variation, use, and maintenance. Changes in appearance—including surface wear, color evolution, mineral oxidation, or textural variation—are a natural and expected part of stone’s life cycle and do not constitute defects or grounds for claims.

No guarantees are made regarding long-term aesthetic performance once the material leaves Borrowed Earth’s facility.

 

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Borrowed Earth expressly disclaims any liability arising from theuse of materials in applications for which they are not technically or environmentally suited, including but not limited to waterfalls, pools, steam showers, exterior façades, high-moisture environments, or structurally demanding conditions, unless expressly approved in writing by Borrowed Earth.

By accepting this estimate/invoice, the client acknowledges full responsibility formaterial specification, application approval, installation execution, sealing, and ongoing maintenance, and agrees to hold Borrowed Earth harmless from any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from installation, performance, or use of the material.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • All prices are quoted FOB Borrowed Earth distribution points. The applicable distribution location will depend on the destination and product availability. Inbound freight, handling, storage, insurance, and delivery to the job site or warehouse are not included unless otherwise stated and will be charged additionally.

  • The majority of Borrowed Earth products are produced to order. Lead times are estimates only and may vary based on material availability, production schedules, quality control, bespoke packing, and external factors beyond our control.

  • Payment terms will be confirmed at the time of order. An advance payment is typically required to initiate production, with full payment due prior to dispatch or pickup.

  • Accepted payment methods include ACH, wire or bank transfer, and check. Credit card payments may be accepted in select cases and may be subject to processing fees.

  • As per industry standard, additional material may be recommended to account for cutting, waste, breakage, and installation requirements. Final responsibility for verifying quantities rests with the purchaser and installation team.

  • Borrowed Earth does not provide installation services and assumes no responsibility or liability for installation methods, substrate preparation, structural support, waterproofing, sealing, fastening systems, or site conditions. All installation must be performed by qualified professionals in accordance with industry standards and project specific requirements.

  • Material selection and application suitability, including but not limited to wet areas, exterior environments, vertical or overhead applications, water features, high traffic zones, or structurally demanding conditions, are the sole responsibility of the client, architect, designer, contractor, or installer.

  • All Borrowed Earth products are fabricated from natural stone and hand finished. Natural variation in color, veining, texture, fissures, inclusions, surface movement, tonal variation, and finish are inherent characteristics of the material and artisanal process and are not considered defects.

  • Stone will naturally age, patinate, and evolve over time based on exposure, use, environment, and maintenance. No guarantees are made regarding long term aesthetic performance once material leaves Borrowed Earth’s facility.

  • Returns are subject to approval and must be requested within the return window communicated at the time of purchase.

  • Returns due to verified manufacturing defects beyond natural or artisanal variation may be eligible for resolution at Borrowed Earth’s discretion if reported promptly after delivery and supported with documentation and photographs.

  • Returns initiated due to order changes, client decisions, or errors not attributable to Borrowed Earth may be eligible for store credit only and are subject to restocking fees and applicable shipping charges. Custom, made to order, slab, or specially fabricated products may be subject to higher restocking fees or may be non returnable.

  • All claims must be submitted in writing with photographs prior to installation. Installation of material constitutes acceptance.

  • Borrowed Earth shall not be held liable for damages arising from improper material selection, misuse, incorrect application, non compliant installation, or unsuitable environmental conditions. Liability is limited to the value of the material supplied and excludes labor, installation, removal, replacement, or consequential damages.

***Artisanal variation – Borrowed Earth slabs and tiles are hand finished with each piece containing a slight natural variation in finishing and texture making each piece unique. Representations on the website or in promotional materials are indicative, and actual products may differ.
